Privacy policy

Backsight (backsight.ca) is operated from Canada. This policy describes what we collect and why, in plain language.

What we collect

Your account details (name, email), your organization’s workspace data (projects, drawings, points, surfaces, imagery, point clouds, locate reports and their files), and operational records (audit events, sign-ins). Payment details are collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor, card numbers never touch our servers.

How it is used

To run the product: your data is processed to provide the features you use, and for nothing else. We do not sell data, we do not use your survey data to train anything, and we do not share it with third parties except the infrastructure that hosts it (database and file storage, payment processing, email delivery) under their own confidentiality obligations. The database and file storage are in Canada. Drone photo reconstruction runs on a machine rented for that one job from a cloud provider, currently in the United States; your photos are on it only while the job runs, the machine is destroyed when the job ends, and the products are stored in Canada.

How it is protected

Every database table is protected by row-level security scoped to your organization. Files live in private storage reachable only through signed URLs. Original uploads are preserved unchanged and issued reports are immutable and checksummed. Access by our staff is limited to what operating the service requires.

Your choices

You can export your data at any time using the product’s export features. If you cancel, your workspace remains exportable; you may request deletion of your organization’s data by writing to hello@backsight.ca from an owner account, and we will confirm and complete it.
